Such a day as today 60 years ago a terrible flood sowed chaos in the center of Valencia after the River Turia overflowed. After three days of persistent rains in the province, during the night of 13 to 14 October, the river flow increased so that the old channel gave no more and overflowed.
The water in the city arrived in some streets at 5 meters. People fled their homes looking for a high point. The cars gave way to the boats and the Túria was charged 81 dead in Valencia in the largest flood of the history of the city, after the one of 1517 that swept up to 200 buildings of the city.
60 years later, Valencia has not had the problems of that night, in spite of the countless cold drop that every year has suffered the province. After the riuà, the construction of the new bed of the Turia was started, which is the one that we see next to the V-30, and the old one was reconverted in the biggest green lung of the city.
